Taipei, Oct. 11－The New Power Party(NPP, 時代力量) held a pressconference today to expose a Chinese medicine clinic owner in the Zhonghe District of New Taipei City, who isalso a consultantto Taipei Bread of Life Christian Church, required employees to copy thepatients’ personal profiles for the anti-gay marriage referendum. While one of anemployees told the employer that such behavior might be illegal, she was dismissed.
The Whistleblower, known as Miss C,showed up in the conference with NPP candidates for New Taipei City councilorsChang Yu-chuan(張祐銓) and Tang Sheng-chieh(唐聖捷), saying that she served asthe counter of the Chinese medicine clinic in Zhonghe since August. The wife ofthe dean told her and her colleagues to copy patients’ profiles for the anti-gaymarriage referendum.
Reminding the owner’s wife such behavior might be illegal, Miss C was told that the use medical records were approved by the patients for the anti-gay marriage referendum. Furthermore, she was dismissed on September 28, threatened by the clinic owner’s wife if she dared to reveal the whole thing, the entire Chinese medicine community would know “what kind of person she is.”
Miss C showed the photos of her dialogue with the owner’s wife. She hoped that through this press conference, she couldlet the public know what happened in that Chinese medicine clinic.
NPP candidates for NewTaipei City councilors Chang Yu-chuan said after investigation, they found thatthe dean and the owner’s wife of this Chinese medicine clinic are members ofthe “Bread of Life Christian Church in Shilin,” which is an importantorganization of anti-gay marriage. Therefore, Chang suggested that such casesof forgery are not one occurrence, asking the Central Electoral Commission to strictly probe intothe fraudulent signatures submitted by the anti-gay marriage campaigners.
“According to the Bible,” NPP Spokesperson Lee Chao-li(李兆立) said, “You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.” He said the use of patients’ personal profiles is not only illegal, but also violates the commandments of God.
